How Much Will It Cost?

If you are insured

If you have health insurance, gaps (out of pocket costs) will vary from health fund to health fund. Gaps will rarely be over $500 for most funds and will need to be paid to Dr Lumsden one week before your surgery.

Please ring your health fund to check that you are covered for your procedure before contacting us.

If you are covered for the surgery then you'll automatically be covered for the anaesthetic (minus any gap owed).

If you are NOT insured

A rough guide to the fees for bariatric surgery for an uninsured patient is shown below. The total amount will need to be paid to Dr Lumsden one week before your surgery.

The medicare rebate varies from between approximately $250 to $435 depending on the length and complexity of your procedure.
